Module Change

Change Governance

Connect change scope, approvals, effectivity, acknowledgements, and supporting evidence before a revision goes into use.

Example buyer problem

A change crosses several teams, but the approval record does not explain the affected work or the conditions for release.

Capability families

Change Governance

A proposed change needs a clear scope and a reviewable reason. Engineering, quality, purchasing, and operations may each hold part of that context. Change Governance brings those decisions into a change record that identifies the affected objects and the evidence supporting the proposed action.

Define what is changing

Start with the product, component, BOM, document, or other supported target. Record the proposed change and connect the relevant document package. Reviewers can follow those references to the records involved instead of relying on a description in an email.

The change record also provides a place to discuss timing. Applicable effectivity rules describe when the change should take effect, so approval and operational application have an explicit relationship.

Review the consequences

Connect Impact Intelligence to examine the dependencies represented in your operational data. Use the findings to identify affected work, questions for reviewers, and evidence that needs attention. The team remains responsible for interpreting the result and deciding whether the proposed change is ready.

When a product specification changes, the review may involve a linked design output, a supplier acknowledgement, or a revised instruction. Those are connected responsibilities that can be followed from the change context.

Keep the decision with the record

Use the change lifecycle to coordinate review, approval, release, and execution. Retain supporting material and the applicable decision history. External acknowledgements show how a partner responded to shared material; the approval decision follows the authority defined for the change itself.

Begin with one repeatable process

Choose a change that regularly creates coordination work, such as a component revision or controlled procedure update. Define the participants, targets, review evidence, and release conditions. Implementation support can help map those responsibilities into the working process.

Expand into Document Control, Product & Configuration, and Quality & Compliance as their records become part of the approval. The goal is a change process that people can follow from the original proposal to its operational use.

Capabilities

What this module enables.

Module-wide controls

  • Create change records with explicit targets, responsibilities, and supporting document packages.
  • Review affected products, BOMs, documents, and operational dependencies.
  • Keep approval decisions and applicable effectivity rules with the change.
  • Track external acknowledgements against the material shared with a partner.

Example workflows

  • Engineering change review for a component or product structure
  • Procedure revision with review, release, and acknowledgement
  • Cross-team approval of an operational policy change

Expansion path

Start narrow, then expand with proof.

Begin with one approval process, then connect its documents, product structures, quality evidence, and impact analysis.

Connected records

Keep the decision and its evidence together.

Follow the relationships between the change, the work, and the records that support your review.

Change review

Visible context

Connect a proposed change to the supported records and dependencies that need review.

Quality evidence

Linked records

Keep findings, actions, and supporting evidence available alongside the work.

Inventory

Operational history

Follow the material, handling, and custody records captured by the configured workflow.

Module activation

Plan how change governance fits your rollout.

Start with one lighthouse workflow, scope the dependencies, and expand with a services-led activation path.
