Module Commercial

Commercial Operations

Connect quotes, pricing decisions, delivered work, and billing records throughout the commercial lifecycle.

Example buyer problem

Quote assumptions change, delivery teams inherit incomplete commitments, and billing requires manual reconstruction of the work.

Commercial Operations connects what a team proposes, what a customer accepts, and what the operation delivers. Quotes, pricing assumptions, revisions, work records, and billing context remain available as the engagement moves between commercial and delivery teams.

A quote may contain several quantity tiers or variants. A service engagement may depend on recorded time and accepted deliverables. A change may alter the agreed scope after work begins. The commercial record needs enough structure to explain those decisions later.

What you can activate

Quote workflows support pricing, assumptions, revisions, and acceptance context. Accepted quote information can feed supported order and work conversion flows. Delivery and time records provide the operational context that configured billing policies and invoice workflows consume.

Implementation defines which commercial steps apply to the engagement. Pricing rules, approval responsibilities, billable events, and the authoritative financial system need explicit ownership. An operational billing record remains distinct from payment collection or a completed accounting reconciliation.

Workflow patterns

  • Review a quote: Examine its scope, pricing inputs, variants, and assumptions before a commitment is accepted.
  • Hand off accepted work: Carry agreed quote context into the supported downstream order or work workflow so delivery can understand the commitment.
  • Record billable delivery: Associate applicable time and deliverables with the work and billing records they support.
  • Manage commercial changes: Retain the revision history and rationale when scope or pricing changes during an engagement.

How it connects

Work Execution provides the work orders and delivery activity behind the commercial record. Product & Configuration supplies the product structure that a manufacturing quote may reference. Procurement & Suppliers connects relevant purchasing and supplier information.

The API catalog describes supported quoting and service-deliverable integration surfaces. Integration & Control Plane provides the adjacent path for connecting external systems and defining the access allowed for each integration.

Start with one commercial handoff

Select a repeatable engagement and follow it from estimate through accepted work and billing preparation. Identify where assumptions are lost, who approves changes, and which delivery records support the charge. Configure that flow first, then expand into additional services or product families using the same defined responsibilities.

Capabilities

What this module enables.

Module-wide controls

  • Manage quote revisions, pricing assumptions, and commercial approvals.
  • Connect accepted quote context to downstream order and work workflows.
  • Link time, deliverables, and billable work to the applicable commercial records.
  • Retain change history as estimates and customer commitments evolve.

Example workflows

  • Quote review followed by conversion into an execution workflow
  • Time and materials billing supported by recorded work
  • Commercial change review with retained quote revisions

Expansion path

Start narrow, then expand with proof.

Begin with one quote-to-delivery workflow, then connect time, deliverables, billing policies, and the integrations required for that flow.

Connected records

Keep the decision and its evidence together.

Follow the relationships between the change, the work, and the records that support your review.

Change review

Visible context

Connect a proposed change to the supported records and dependencies that need review.

Quality evidence

Linked records

Keep findings, actions, and supporting evidence available alongside the work.

Inventory

Operational history

Follow the material, handling, and custody records captured by the configured workflow.

Module activation

Plan how commercial operations fits your rollout.

Start with one lighthouse workflow, scope the dependencies, and expand with a services-led activation path.
